Product Overview

A one-piece wetsuit cut like a swimsuit: high neck, bare arms, a zip down the front. This 2mm bikini wetsuit is made for women who swim, snorkel, freedive and dive in warm to mild water and want warmth and skin cover without the extra volume of a full suit.

Most spring suits are built for cold-water thinking — long sleeves, a back zip, a suit that needs a second pair of hands on the boat deck. This plaid patchwork wetsuit goes the other way. It is cut for the way warm-water days actually run: a reef snorkel in the morning, a swim in the afternoon, a boat ride in between, and it is styled to look like something you chose rather than something you were issued.

Wear it alone in the tropics and through summer at home. It makes a good first neoprene suit — the one we point first-time buyers to in our online swimwear shop — and a good light one to pack when a thicker suit stays in the cupboard.

Plaid Patchwork Design

  • A white centre panel, checked sides. The front is built around a clean white panel, with black-and-grey checkerboard panels running down each side. It reads as one graphic piece rather than a print dropped onto a plain body.
  • Checks that meet the seams. The pattern is panelled rather than printed in a single pass, so on this plaid patchwork wetsuit the check lines follow the panel edges and stay aligned with the body as the neoprene stretches.
  • A high-cut leg. The leg openings sit high on the hip, which lengthens the line of the body and keeps the suit from pulling when you lift a knee to fin.
  • Easy to spot above and below water. The black-and-white check stays graphic when it is wet, which is why it photographs so well on a reef and why a buddy or a boat crew can pick you out at the surface.
  • Sits happily next to plain black gear. Booties, gloves and a hood in plain black do not fight the check, so you can wear whatever the dive shop hands you.

Sleeveless Cut & Front Zip

Bare arms, full reach. This sleeveless front zipper wetsuit stops at the shoulder, so nothing pulls across your back when you reach for a mask strap, pull a fin on, paddle for a wave or stretch into a streamline. Divers notice it most on the surface — the swim back to the boat is easier when the shoulders are free.

A zip you can work alone. The front zip runs from the neck down the centre of the chest, with the pull exactly where your own hands reach it. No asking a stranger to close you up, and no wriggling out of a wet back zip at the end of a dive. On a two-dive day it is the difference between a five-minute change and a fifteen-minute one.

The neckline earns its keep. The high front covers the chest, which is the part of you most exposed to the sun and the part most likely to graze a coral head when you are looking down.

Vent at the surface. On a hot deck or a long surface interval, open the zip and let the heat out, then close it fully before you descend. The zip sits flat against the body, so it stays clear of a BCD strap and a weight belt.

One honest note. Bare shoulders are bare shoulders in the sun. On long surface swims, wear a UV top over the suit, or keep it for shaded, early and late sessions.

Size & Fit

  • XS to 3XL as standard. The full run for this sleeveless front zipper wetsuit starts at XS and goes through to 3XL, so the smaller and larger ends are covered without a separate plus-size line.
  • Short, tall and extra-tall codes. The size menu also carries codes for women whose proportions sit outside the standard block: shorter codes such as SS, MS and LS, taller codes such as ST, MT, LT and XLT, and the longer TT codes (STT, MTT, LTT, 2XSTT, 2XLTT) for a long torso. If standard sizes always come up short in the body or long in the leg, this is where to look.
  • Measure, do not guess. Take height, bust, waist and hip with a soft tape, standing relaxed and measuring over underwear. A wetsuit is not sized like a dress, so use the numbers rather than your usual clothing size.
  • What snug should feel like. Firm and even across the bust, the ribcage and the hips, with no loose fold at the lower back and nothing digging in at the shoulder. If you can pinch a handful of fabric at the small of your back, the code is too big.
  • Worth five minutes with the tape. It pays to measure properly before you buy women freediving suit gear anywhere: neoprene has to sit close to trap a thin layer of water, and a suit that fits like a loose swimsuit will not keep you warm.
  • Between two codes. Go with the one that matches your bust and hip rather than your waist. The waist has more give than the chest, and the front zip needs the torso length to be right.

Material & Build

Limestone neoprene, 2 mm. The shell is 2 mm limestone neoprene, the warm-water weight most of our bikini suits are built around. Limestone-based neoprene has a softer, more elastic hand than the older grades, so a 2 mm bikini wetsuit like this one wraps the body instead of standing away from it, and it stays light when you are climbing back onto a boat.

A lining that stretches both ways. The 360-degree stretch lining is what makes the close cut wearable: it gives across the chest, around the hips and up over the shoulders, so the suit follows a twist, a duck dive or a long reach instead of fighting it. The inner face has a milk-silk softness against the skin, which matters on a session that runs all morning.

Fast-drying, water-repellent face. The outer fabric sheds water rather than soaking it up, so the suit is lighter on deck and drier between dives. On a two-tank day that is the difference between pulling on a damp, heavy suit and one that has had time to dry in the breeze.

Panelled, not boxy. Each section is cut to follow the chest, waist and hip, so the suit stays close without pressure points. A close fit is also a working fit: the thin layer of water trapped between suit and skin is what keeps you warm, and a baggy panel loses it.

What 2 mm is, and is not. Two millimetres is enough for warm to mild water and active diving. It is not a cold-water suit. If your water is cold or your sessions are long and still, buy women freediving suit gear in a thicker weight and wear this one underneath it.

In the Water

  • Reef snorkelling and shallow dives. Two millimetres takes the chill off a long snorkel, the high front keeps the sun off your chest, and the close cut means less drag when you swim into current.
  • Freediving and spearfishing. Bare shoulders make a real difference to a full arm stretch at the surface and to your reach on a line, and nothing binds across the back on the way down.
  • Surfing and paddling. In a sleeveless front zipper wetsuit your shoulders rotate freely through a paddle stroke, and you can strip the suit off in the car park without help.
  • Open-water swims and triathlon legs. The plaid patchwork wetsuit is thin enough to swim distance in without overheating or shoulder fatigue, and streamlined enough that it does not feel like dragging a second skin.
  • Boat days and travel. It takes up less space than a full suit and dries on a rail between dives, which is what you want when you are living out of a bag for a week.
  • Pool sessions and water fitness. Enough warmth for a heated pool, but not so much that you cook on the poolside between sets.
  • Where it is the wrong tool. Cold water, deep repetitive dives and long static sessions in low temperatures want a thicker suit. Think of 2 mm as a warm-water layer, not an all-year one.

Care & Longevity

Fresh water first. Rinse the suit inside and out after every saltwater or pool session. Salt crystals and sand work away at seams and zip teeth, and a two-minute rinse is the cheapest maintenance there is.

Dry it in the shade, inside out. Sun and heat are what age neoprene fastest — a hot car, a radiator or a sun-baked balcony will stiffen the foam and dull the check. Turn the suit inside out and hang it over a wide rail rather than a thin wire, which can leave a crease line in the shoulder.

Keep oils and chlorine off it where you can. Sunscreen, tanning oil and body lotion leave a film that breaks the material down; put them on before the suit, not after. Chlorine is tough on any 2 mm bikini wetsuit over time, so a thorough rinse straight after a pool session does more for its life than anything else you can do.

Take it off by the shoulders. Peel the suit down from the neck rather than dragging it off by one cuff. The seams take the load otherwise, and a strained seam is the first thing to go.

Look after the zip. Rinse the track and brush out sand; a zip forced over grit is a zip that will eventually fail. Closing it fully before you get in also keeps the pull from catching on a strap.

Catch small nicks early. A tiny cut at a seam spreads once salt water gets into it. A drop of neoprene cement from any dive shop closes it while it is still small.

Store it flat or on a wide hanger. Compressing a suit under heavy bags for months leaves permanent creases in the foam, so give it a drawer of its own between trips.

Ordering & Delivery

  1. Measure your height, bust, waist and hip, then choose the size code from the list. If two codes look plausible, send the four numbers to our team and we will tell you which one we would take.
  2. Choose black or white. Both use the same check panels; the difference is the base tone of the suit.
  3. Deciding between this and a 3 mm or open-back style? Tell us your water temperature and how long you usually stay in, and we will point you to the one that suits the trip.
  4. Check the delivery and exchange terms that apply to your address before you pay. Dispatch times and return windows vary by destination, and our team can confirm both for your order.
  5. If a size or colour you want is not showing in our online swimwear shop, ask us rather than ordering the nearest option — the wrong code is the most common reason a wetsuit comes back.
  6. If you are planning to buy women freediving suit gear for a trip with a fixed date, order early enough to try the suit on at home first, and leave room for an exchange.
  7. Keep the original packaging until you have tried the suit on, so a size swap stays simple.

About Our Company

TRUDIVE is an independent water-sports brand built around a simple idea: warm-water divewear that feels like you rather than equipment. Our online store opened in 2021, and we have been designing and refining our own wetsuit collections ever since, guided by fit feedback from divers, snorkelers and swimmers. You will also find us on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Xiaohongshu and Bilibili, where we share real sessions, styling and sizing tips. Questions about fit, care or an order reach our own team directly, before and after you buy.

FAQ

Q1. What materials are used in this suit?

This 2 mm bikini wetsuit is built from limestone neoprene, with a 360-degree stretch lining against the skin and a fast-drying, water-repellent face on the outside. That combination is what keeps it light when it is wet and lets it move with you rather than holding its own shape in the water.

Q2. How far do the sizes go, and are there extended sizes?

Standard sizes run from XS to 3XL, and the same size menu carries short, tall and extra-tall codes for women whose torso or leg length sits outside the standard block — look for the S, T and TT endings. If two codes look possible, send your height, bust, waist and hip and we will tell you which one we would take.

Q3. Can I use it for the swim leg of a triathlon?

Yes. The sleeveless cut leaves your arms free and the front zip opens in one pull, which is exactly what you want in transition. Check your race rules and the expected water temperature first: this is a warm-water suit, and each race sets its own conditions for wetsuit use.

Q4. Do you offer care instructions and a warranty?

Care guidance comes with every order from our online swimwear shop: rinse in fresh water after each session, dry in the shade and keep the suit away from heat, oil and long chlorine soaks. For warranty, ask our team about the terms that apply to your order and your region before you buy.

Q5. What does the plaid look like in person?

The plaid patchwork wetsuit in the photos is what arrives: a white centre panel with black-and-grey check panels down each side, not a small all-over print. Because the panels are cut and joined rather than printed across one piece, the check shifts slightly with the seams as the suit stretches, which is what gives it the patchwork character.

Q6. Is 2 mm warm enough for my trip?

For warm to mild water and active sessions, yes. Two millimetres takes the edge off without overheating you on the boat, and it is the weight we suggest for repeated shallow dives, snorkelling and swimming in tropical or summer conditions. If you feel the cold quickly, dive deep or sit still for long periods, take a thicker suit and keep this one for warm days.

Q7. Will it loosen once it is wet?

Neoprene softens in the water, so a new suit feels firmest when you first pull it on dry and settles against the body within a few minutes of getting in — that is normal. What should not happen is a loose fold at the lower back or under the bust. If you find one while the suit is dry, go down a code rather than up.
